Speaking of the Chrysler buyout, I don't know why GM didn't buy them and then simply shut the company down. Presto, a major competitor gone, larger market share for GM, their factories are at capacity again, and they are profitable. Maybe there are legal obstacles with the unions, or maybe they were afraid of the public and political outcry.
