Compaq Named Exclusive Hardware Sponsor of the Microsoft Complete Commerce 2000 Tour
Half-day Events Focus on Building Successful E-commerce Solutions
HOUSTON, Feb. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Compaq Computer Corporation (NYSE: CPQ - news) today announced that it is the exclusive hardware sponsor of the Microsoft Complete Commerce 2000 Tour to be held in cities throughout the central U.S. and Canada. This four-month tour will demonstrate how IT professionals can utilize the latest technologies, such as Compaq DISA (Distributed Internet Server Array) and Microsoft Windows DNA 2000, to successfully build secure, reliable, and highly scalable e-commerce solutions.
Each half-day event will feature a highly interactive, role playing format that simulates a business discussion between a CIO and an e-commerce consultant regarding a ''commerce-enabling'' business. This free session will methodically walk attendees through the steps needed to develop fast, affordable, and highly scalable e-commerce solutions using the Compaq ProLiant-based DISA architecture running on the high-performance Windows 2000 platform.
''Compaq is pleased to be named the exclusive hardware provider for the Microsoft Complete Commerce 2000 Tour,'' stated David Parsons, director of NonStop(TM) eBusiness Solutions at Compaq. ''We believe Compaq's participation in this event is just one more example of the longstanding business partnership that exists between our two companies. In addition, this event will enable Compaq to demonstrate some of our solutions that offer customers the high availability, scalability, manageability, and security needed within an integrated non-stop e-business environment.''
Compaq enables NonStop(TM) eBusiness through a comprehensive set of defined solutions for small, medium, and large businesses, as well as the new class of ''dot-com'' Internet-based businesses. These solutions enable companies to compete effectively in the 7x24x365 online marketplace, while allowing them to Internet-enable shared business processes with customers, partners, suppliers, and distributors. These solutions are built upon Compaq's industry-leading platforms, architectures, and services that are delivered directly or through its worldwide network of reseller and system integrator partners.
''We are excited to have Compaq partner with Microsoft in our Complete Commerce 2000 Tour,'' said Marty Paradise, general manager of eBusiness for Microsoft. ''Through Compaq's participation in these events, we will be able to demonstrate how the powerful features and capabilities of our platform and the reliability and performance of Compaq's hardware can be combined to create the world-class e-commerce solutions required in today's competitive web-based business environment.''
