CAPT, ODV, NTH, WGX x 2
Capitan Silver aka CAPT announced that a 10km drill programme at their Cruz de Plata prospect in Durango, Mexico has commenced. This year, they will be doing more drilling in the silver-dominant Jesus Maria veins, including their extension onto a newly acquired adjoining property, as well as testing new targets north of Jesus Maria plus completing an initial Resource Estimate on the Capitan Hill disseminated oxide gold deposit.
This is a big year for CAPT. If they can find what they expect to find, it will certainly boost the value of their property holdings.

I originally got into Osisko Development aka ODV to play some newly issued warrants, I am way down on the warrants which will almost certainly expire worthless in a few years, but fortunately I only have a few so I am keeping them for now for the entertainment value of this wacky company.
They open the PR by telling us they had $107M cash at the end of the year, then go on to say they have to pay off a $36M debt by the end of October. So much money flows in and out of ODV compared to what they manage to accomplish.
But, yes they do have other uses for the rest of that money. They are currently completing the extraction of a bulk sample and completing a revised PFBS due Q2, both for the Cariboo gold mine in BC, for which they expect to receive permits H2 to begin construction for 1sr production 2027. They are also negotiating with potential financiers to raise even more money cover construction costs.
ODV has mostly gone quiet on the Tintic project in Utah, except for one hole being drilled into each of two exploration targets looking for Cu/Au/Mo mineralization.
The PR concludes with handy table of expected completion dates and costs for various aspects of both Cariboo and Tintic. We'll see if they can complete them on time and on budget.

Another company I continue to follow mostly for entertainment value is Nord Precious Metals aka NTH. They are a tiny company trying to do too many things, but lately they seem to be sharpening their focus on the Castle Mine property near Cobalt, Ontario.
Their latest initiative is to hire a company familiar with the property to run some geophysics. They seem to be especially interested in the unexplored areas between known areas of mineralization.

West Australian gold miner Westgold aka WGX released a new presentation called Bridging the Valuation Gap, detailing how they plan to close that gap. I didn't see anything new, but it is worth a quick perusal if you are a shareholder or plan to become one. The was also an associated webcast which I assume will appear on

In addition, WGX announced they had completed the sale of one of the mills acquired in the merger with KRR in return for $79M cash plus #15M in shares plus a two year toll milling agreement.

Saville opines that the US$ PoG and the gold mining indices are overbought and could be close to multi-week tops, but additional gains are likely within the next few months. He also noted that the increased risk of stagflation due to Trump's tariffs has boosted the appeal of gold, given that stagflation is the most favourable economic backdrop for the PoG.
FWIW, BMO issued an update on their metals and bulk commodity prices, increasing them for gold, silver, copper, and tin, and increasing many targets for the corresponding stocks. Among the companies I talk about, EDV's price target was raised from $46 to $48 and OGC's from $5.75 tp $6, with both remaining at Outperform. Interestingly, this is the first time I have seen BMO mention WM , which has a target of $0.75 with an OP rating. |
