BULLETIN Microsoft plans to release the Windows 98 operating system ten days earlier than scheduled, the company said today.

Computer makers will begin shipping PCs with the upgraded operating system as early as next week.

Microsoft executives said Windows 98 will be available to the public on June 15 instead of the previously announced launch date of June 25.
