Hi Simon, >>Judging by comments of people on all these thread many are up to their eye balls on margin. Margin call may be made "after the fact". Brokerage co's do not wait when they get in trouble. You are correct, the houses will be calling and they will take everything a person has if need be. What I was trying to say is the margin money that is in the market is very small relative to mutual fund money. The people that are on margins big time are in trouble and I feel for them. It is called margins 101. What I think is important right now is people calling to move money from equity funds to cash. We will see what this looks likes during the rest of the week. 5% may not be enough to get people moving to another investment asset. Joan
