Who needs facts? Drudge Report edition

The influential conservative aggregator Drudge Report is currently broadcasting a link stating that Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling is a Democrat, despite the fact that he is a registered Republican.

Several conservative outlets are trying to politicize the controversy surrounding Sterling's remarks by pointing out his past contributions to Democratic candidates -- which is factually accurate, if not necessarily relevant. At National Review, Tim Cavanaugh, eager to dismiss random people on Twitter, reports that Sterling "has only contributed to Democrats." He gave to both Bill Bradley and Gray Davis, more than 20 years ago.

Why Drudge states that Sterling "is a Democrat" is beyond me, but just so you have it for the record: He's a Republican.

Correction: Cavanaugh writes for National Review, not The Weekly Standard, as this post initially stated. But hey, who needs facts?
