Evangelicals are a disgrace just like the jihadis. They cannot fathom a world of faith and belief without intolerance for other people. Free will does not give people a right to decide whether or not a woman has a right to abortion. These same people argue that plan B violates the right of the fetus the day after sex. I suppose they are opposed to contraception too. Anyways, fuck em. I beg to differ with you about Saddam's use of force and chemical weapons against the Kurds and the Shiites. If he didn't use genocide against these people to keep them in line, why the hell was he killing them. I don't see the Saudis using chemical weapons against the Shiites, so the use of violent deterrence is not an everpresent part of the Muslim population. As for your discussion of resources, the Saudis don't own their oil once they sell it on the open market. We are only getting a fraction of our oil from OPEC today, mostly it is coming from the Canadians these days. Have you seen what they are doing with their taxes of oil trusts? Mexico and Venezuela are next of the list, although the Saudis may have climbed back into the number 3 spot after all of Citgo's problems with Chavez. We are not responsible for the tyranny of shitbags like Chavez in Venzuela or the President in Iran. They make their policies with the position of doing the most amount of damage to international relations so the price of oil stays high. Cooperation does not have a legitimate place in free market competition for limited resources. Long term, it will hurt the economies of Iran as new sources of oil are discovered to replace OpEC reserves. Canada is making money hand over fist now from their oil exports to the US. You certainly pointed out one altuism, if you hate something long enough, it will hate you back. All of the bullshit coming out of the ME is not going to go their way forever. The ME is losing their geopolitical influence in the energy markets as new producers in Canada and Russia increase their production. We are just learning how to hate again in this country. I still don't think we hate the terrorists. I would like to see the old fashion, cold war hatred that all Americans showed for the USSR. We just need to learn to hate the terrorists, not the moderates and their US supported governments. As for more troops, I don't think we need any more to keep doing the same job we are doing right now.
