Even if eps is ok, guidance may well be along the lines of a quote attributed to some high-up Intel exec (I forget which one) that the Y2K related buying surge anticipated in H1 may not materialize till H2. (A damper is the suggestion made on the CPQ thread that this surge has already occured in H2 '98).
