Retiarius, re:

>>Does the September date mean Win98 will or can be released in June, as planned?

no! from a legal standpoint, it is not an all-clear --
the request for injunctive action to modify win98
still sits before judge ronald whyte of the u.s. district court.<

I'm not clear as to why the Sun suit has anything to do with Win98? Is Win98 written in the Java language which MSFT licensed from Sun? I don't think so.

At any rate, the more the government tries to deny the people access to their rightful choice of legal products, the more the people will demand the product.

At any rate, It is not at all clear that Sun has any legal gripe against MSFT. It's interesting that the same people demanding that OEMs be allowed to hide all visible traces on the screen of Win98, are the same people crying foul because MSFT modified the Java language which they licensed from Sun. Interesting lack of consistency in the arguments. Clearly this is all software politics, with the rabble demanding the overthrow of the people's choice of leaders: Wintel. Long live Wintel.
