Terrence, I won't pretend to know as much as you or as much as JF about the history of the framers of the constitution. I have only my common sense to guide me.

I know this, they still say a prayer before every legislative session in congress as they have done for over 200 years. As Shalom has said "In God we trust" in emblazed on many of our oldest symbols. As the president takes the Oath of Office he places his hand over the Bible and says. I do solemly swear to uphold the Constitution, then say's, "So help me God." The Ten Commandments still hang on the walls of the chambers of the Senate.

I believe George Washington was a Mason? but I'm not certain.

I defer these questions to that great historian. JF.

I do not believe most were deists however, You will have to provide compelling evidence of this to convince me.
