Whooa. We seem to have some differences in opinion about the speed of GPRS and 1X. Not as big though than I have with your brainy friend Peter, who was visioning difference no less than 4x.

OK the GPRS theory figure is correct, but this "implementation" you clearly dug out of your backside. As well as "typical" figure too. Ditto that the 1X figure would be from "real world". "Real world" is changing coverage and user load, changing data rates.

>>CDMA1 operator needs a "deal" to get 1X
>Korea is going 1X this fall, care to find out when and where it had to sign a deal?

So you agree with Peter that the operator does not need a "deal" to "upgrade" to 1x? Everything is charge free? Yes?

>>GPRS is packet data which uses the portion of the channel that the voice doesn´t.
>A lie like this is not worth of a rebuttal.

Its not a lie, so it is not indeed worth rebuttal, mightyducks. With 2 % blocking approx half of the capacity is unused. Obviously, after running out of this "charge free" capacity, more has to be built. But no, it does not eat voice capacity like your highly educated friend claimed.
