I was at the market about an hour ago and noticed the front page of USA Today. This was headlined top/center. M CNN/USA Today/Gallup Poll: Bush Over Kerry By 8 Pts October 17, 2004 According to a new poll by CNN/USA Today/Gallup, President Bush now leads challenger John Kerry among likely voters 52% to 44%, with 1% supporting Ralph Nader. Interviews were conducted with 1,013 adult Americans, including 788 likely voters and 942 registered voters, by telephone on October 14-16, 2004 Although Americans think John Kerry won all three presidential debates, his 45% unfavorable rating represents the worst of the campaign. On the other hand, Bush's popularity appears to have rebounded to a level not seen since the Republican National Convention. While it is not entirely clear why Kerry's popularity has sunk so dramatically since the last debate, speculation among pundits is swirling that Kerry's comments regarding Vice President Cheney's gay daughter - and his subsequent refusal to apologize for the gaffe - may have mortally wounded the Kerry-Edwards campaign.
