I am with Networm, buy a new system. Your existing machine still has value so use it for what it is worth. There are several things you can do with an old machine. Let someone else use it, you keep it as a back up machine or network it to your new machine as a file back up system.

Web Sites

I am an amateur so take this with a grain of salt.

I have tried several web site programs for my personal web pages. Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft Front Page and a couple of others. I find Netscape Composer the best for my own applications. The programs that try and do too much for you (Microsoft style) drive me nuts. I like a simple program with basic concepts. The complex link scheme that Front page uses is a waste of time for me. Loading pages onto a web site is really simple. The built in web loading functions add a level of complexity that you do not need. All ( most) files in a common directory will minimize the need for a complex linking scheme.

I think some web site designers miss the point of a good web page. I have clicked on web designer home pages to see what they have to offer. I am usually gone before the page finishes loading. I do not have the patience to wait for all the stuff that takes forever to load. Simple themes and minimal graphics should be a priority.

Web Graphics

I use Ulead Photoimpact 4.0. It is the most intuitive and user friendly graphics application that I have found. For $139+/- list ( you will find it for $99 +/-) it is a good deal. It will convert graphics files to web formats. It also has an excellent album feature for graphic file management. The slide show function is great for a personalized screen saver.

I would not suggest playing with graphics on anything less than a Pentium. Graphics applications benefit from faster machines and large harddrives
