Wharf,

As far as the internet I run a internet company that has 28 transmitter sites spread out over Western Colorado. I provide high speed internet over a very large WAN network. We do hosting and networking as well. Our up time percentage is better than Qwest. Our network averages a 99.97% up time over the entire network of nodes.

Our transmitter sites operate with conversion of 110v to 12 volts dc. We have used solar to power our sites and I have a garage with backup generators and solar panels ready to go to the sites to guarantee service.

My part of the network will survive long into the night of electrical outage. Not so sure about my upstream provider but I am ready.

Communications is vital.

A bicycle well oiled with a basket on the front will be helpful.
