"So when they entered his store to place an order for a wedding cake, he simply told them they would have to find a different bakery. "

It's worse than that. I've followed this in Colorado. Phillips actually was always pleasant, polite, and accommodating to the couple. He told them he would bake anything they wanted including a cake. He drew the line, however, at making the cake a gay cake. The couple found it just too difficult to take a generic cake and then stick two little dudes on top after it was delivered. There were plenty of other bakeries who would do what they wanted but they shopped for Phillips' store so they could make a precedent setting case.

At one time I argued to let the definition of marriage remain according to traditional standards. I gave that up because the argument got so ridiculous. I figured just let everyone call them selves what ever they want to be called. People could anyway. But leftists wanted it legislated as a right. I buckled because the whole thing just seemed to silly to argue about. I suspect Hillary stole that, "what difference does it make," thing from me.

A more serious issue is the extent to which the term "civil rights" has started to be used as an excuse to diminish natural human rights.
