Kerry hammered Bush on the real issue, Iraq, as his response, and that got played just as much as his bungled joke. Kerry may not be a skilled comedian, in fact he's stiff at jokes, and he obviously misread the line, but he does know a lot about war, service to country, respect for our military personnel, and the collosal costly failure of Bush's policies in Iraq, which have very real consequences.
