I remember 1987 although I had only small amount in some Canadian mutual funds.. The reason I remember it like yesterday is because I read an interview of John Templeton, that was published within a week of the debacle, in a Canadian business paper and his basic message was it was a great time to buy any major Canadian Bank stocks.. I did check the price of Royal Bank at the time which was around $25 or so.. But of course I never did anything about it.. It went up 100% within 6-9 months.. Since then have split a few times, paid regular dividends and today is trading around $100 with a yield of 3.64%
