It is not that simple. For one, I imagine that they get all that much support from other Sunnis. Ok, no doubt the Saudis have given them money and arms. But that was for the proxy war in Syria. Even inside Syria, they are a destabilizing force in an unstable region. Given that they are holding some Turks, they potentially could drag NATO into it.

Granted, Maliki has been a disappointment. And bears the brunt of the blame for the situation. But that doesn't mean we should stand idly by. We can't afford to.
