RR, even those of us who are basically happy with Schwab have run into
a couple of the situations mentioned on this thread.. We just aren't knowledgeable enough about the system to know what to do about it when there IS a problem. I have received very pleasant explanations, both verbally and by letter when I ask Schwab for an explanation. But I have had a case where even the broker who took my order said the order wasn't handled properly, and there was no adjustment.
I can't imagine ever again putting in a market order with Schwab for an option, or a stock on the NASDAQ for example.
But I have learned, simply, not to place an option or NASDAQ order unless I can put it in a a specific price, all or nothing, etc. And I go cheerfully on my way.
I am reasonably sure that Schwab would like to give good service, and most of the Schwab people are both friendly and helpful. But when it comes to options and NASDAQ I don't feel that Schwab is capable of giving good service.... perhaps because it is not in their control.
Am sticking with Schwab ...mainly for the mutual funds, but sure don't care for their excessive fees on stocks/options. And I just don't present them with the opportunities to give bad service anymore --so we both stay happy... Thanks for the info, this thread, RR. dlo
