Congress Whistled Offsides
In regards to still more Congressional investigations of sports activity, DW writes:

Mish, you should talk about this stupid use of Congressional intrusion into sports. The country is falling apart and they have time for this. Next they will be reviewing instant replay call."

koan: it is unbelievable. Truly Alice in wonderland. We have so many "boring" fundamental problems facing us: high energy prices, two wars breaking our treasury and grinding our military into dust, social security and medicare, housing debacle, banking debacle, debt (we have increased our total debt by almost 20 trillion since Reagan took office); and all we hear from the condidates and congress is bombast and fighting about the most trivial issues.

What scares me most is that when people get their backs against the wall and in groups, like the Germans did after the allies took everything from them in the first world war, they can get really irrational. The Germans turned to Hitler!!

What I worry about most is if the US really gets into a heavy depression instead of addressing the problem some of the leaders may use war as an out.

By the way, in Alaska the governor is proposing giving everyone a credit card worth $1,200 to pay for heating oil.
