The "rumored" AOL PC would be a non-windows machine, with a browser, AOL software, some sort of word processing and some sort of spreadsheet. It might, or might not even be an Intel machine.

I wouldn't bet on your ability to run any "standard" applications. Probably limited to Java stuff that can run in the browser. Definitely an appropriate direction for some segments of the market, but it's hardly going to displace the 80-85% of PCs that are sold into businesses.
