Your mention of Psalm 91 brings to memory (faded) a long ago heard true account by a woman who was confronted by a mugger or housebreaker of some sort. She was familiar with Ps 91, perhaps it was one she had memorized also, since she turned to God's Word, the promises therein, in her danger. However, she was a bit flustered, to say the least, and when she spoke to confront the antagonist, the words that came out of her mouth were, "I'M COVERED WITH FEATHERS!"

He fled.

She laughed about it later. The power of God's Word saved her in that situation, in spite of her flustered reaction.

The SOS you referred to in that movie? I don't know. I never did see that movie - considered it to be something vile, to be avoided, perhaps along the lines of your feelings about JG, which I sadly agree wholeheartedly with.

But I think of Jesus' response to the jeers and taunts that were hurled at him while he voluntarily suffered on the cross. "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." "And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God." For their sakes and ours and everyone's, Jesus didn't demonstrate that he could effortlessly save himself from further agony.

The hardened soldiers, the centurions, who observed it all, concluded correctly, "Truly this was the Son of God." That is a warrior's admiration for a Warrior of warriors.

John Isaiah 9:5-8
