Phones will work in year 2000 But resist temptation to check at 12:01, the system could never handle volume cnnfntech.newsreal.com >Please don't pick up your telephone receiver a few minutes past midnight Jan. 1 to see if the phone works. If you pick it up and hear an odd dial tone, don't panic. That just means everyone else is checking their phones. There's a limit to what the nation's phone systems can handle at once, regardless of the day. <
