I've tried accessing hotmail on two different browsers (Slimbrowser, Explorer) with the same results.
If I remember correct, slimbrowser is just shell (skin) for different looking IE? I think Slimbrowser is using IE engine. If this is true (can't really recall for sure) you are still trying with one browser.

Try with Firefox Mozilla, you can download portable version and run it from your USB stick if you don't want to install it. Other options are Crome, Opera and Safari. Try, what you have to lose?
