Frank - did you ever believe you could get 45K bps full duplex using POTS? The current V.90 modem technology can provide these rates from a residence to an access concentrator in many areas. Remember when a 56K bps line was specially provisioned, non-switched, cost $1/mile a month, and was really only available to the big boys? I remember multi-dropping several geographic business locations using 2.4K bps circuits with IBM 3270 terminals and everyone thought it was space age stuff and were amazed with the response time.
