Listened to the PTC c-call.
( you can too... .at 1.888.562.2792 )

As one heavily invested in SDRC (and too chicken to short PTC in mid 30s ), I am biased, but here are some things I noted:

PTC shortfall in CAD
...losing market share?
PDM is the future
...And sales not what they expected (yet).
Following SDRC business model
...imitation is the greatest form of flattery.

Company also made a couple statement that addressed recent talk here.
1.> Said the low-price CAD packages (from competition) wasn't expected to hurt sales of hi-end products.
2.> Stated PDM leads to CAD sales.
....Hmmmm... Seems some posters here didn't agree when we stated same.

I certainly feel for PMTC stockholders.
Bitter pill.
A $40 million shortfall in earnings (yr.).

But for those of us in SDRC, the question is:
... Will the street read this as an industry slowdown and punish anything associated with CAD and PDM?
If PTC management is to be believed, they offered these clues:
1.> CAD was down because 25% of sales force redirected to PDM and/or Large Accounts.
2.> PDM will be big.

OK, from an SDRC stockholder viewpoint, they acknowledge CAD still OK but losing emphasis. And PDM is still future tense.
SD products are already out there.
We stockholders went thru this two years ago.

So, my conclusion is that SD will not follow PTC lead this quarter ( or next ).
PTC problems are company specific.
Not industry specific.

But of course I'm not so naive to think the street will do anything more than look at the headlines and dump anything to do with CAD/PDM.
Therefore, I expect weakness tomorrow....and maybe until earnings come out.

Folks, do your DD.
What will you do if SD falls a couple bucks in sympathy?
Decide whether this is opportunity or warning.
Then act accordingly.
