Mike-- The Army, Navy, and Air Force have quite enough trouble coordinating with each other. Imagine what would happen if each state had its own army, air force, and perhaps navy. And who'd be in charge in the case of an actual military threat to the nation? The only people who'd win in this situtation would be arms dealers, uniform salesmen, and bureaucrats. Janice
