Andrew Improves Electrical Performance of HELIAX Transmission Lines; Attenuation Improvements and Lower Guaranteed VSWR
ORLAND PARK, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 9, 1999--Andrew Corporation's (Nasdaq:ANDW) HELIAX(R) cables now provide enhanced electrical performance due to improvements in closed cell foam dielectric design and refinements and advances in the Andrew cable manufacturing process.
The company's latest published attenuation figures for HELIAX 1/2-inch through 2 1/4-inch LDF cables show improvements of 3% to 7%. For example, at 894 MHz, HELIAX LDF7-50A (1-5/8 in) cable now has 0.71 dB attenuation, a 7% improvement. At 2 GHz, HELIAX LDF7-50A cable has 1.17 dB attenuation; this is 6% lower than previously published figures.
"HELIAX LDF cables now offer the lowest system gain options in the industry, and they are extremely cost-effective for systems requiring higher towers or larger coverage areas," said Mike Guerin, Andrew Corporation's HELIAX product line manager.
Also, standard HELIAX feeder cables now feature a guaranteed VSWR of 1.13 enabling system providers in cellular, GSM, PCN, and PCS environments to have the option of purchasing standard cable as opposed to premium cable for their system installations.

All of this helps to improve call quality and enhance the mobile coverage area.
