Seems there's been a lot said about Java and PDM. PTC would have you believe they are the only provider. Not so. Just marketing hype. Check this out for a little history of PDM and JAVA: biz.yahoo.com An excerpt: June 25 news: In addition to being a customer, Sun has collaborated with SDRC to develop e!Vista, Metaphase's Java(tm) technology-based user interface that was released last year with the Metaphase Enterprise product suite. e!Vista delivers full PDM functionality to any user equipped with a web browser via task-focused Java applets. Because e!Vista is written in the Java programming language, access is available to any computer platform with a browser installed. Sun has used SD's PDM for over 3 years. Jerry
