Congrats to the national media:
Little oil seen on Baldwin County beaches, but few people make trip Sunday, July 25, 2010
PERDIDO PASS, Alabama -- A group of Orange Beach residents were sunbathing Sunday on a beach at Perdido Pass. Though the sand appeared clear of oil, the group was nearly alone.
"Right now this beach should be packed. You shouldn't be able to find a parking space," said Karen Hunter, who sat beside her husband John.
"The effect of the oil might be less than we thought, John Hunter said. "It's the perception that there's oil on the beach that will be hardest to overcome."
There were less than two dozen people on the beach early Sunday afternoon, despite a lack of oil in the area.
Baldwin beaches, from Fort Morgan to Orange Beach, saw a few tarballs land onshore, but no more than usual, officials said.
A morning flyover by Orange Beach officials turned up some light sheen in waters near the city but no oil on the surface of waters across the county.
