I just bought a HP 8395 from CPU, after considering the
Dell. I wanted the here and now and the quality of the HP. It was $2100 (usually list at $2400) at CPU, and came with a free Imation External Drive for 120 MB Disks. The Dell that I believed comparable was difficult to compare to the HP, since I could try out the HP, easily but not the Dell's. In short, I didn't want to hassle with mail order and take a chance. I don't mail order automobiles either. HP has an excellent reputation of on site service and support, not that Dell doesn't, but there is more to these things than simply putting the components together. I believe that however big Dell gets, there will always be a place for the Best Buys, Fry's and CPU's of the world. In many ways, it is easier to build a marketing plan to compete with Dell than the Stores themselves.
