Okay, seems like all the phone company experts read this thread, so I'll post another really good question, hoping to get an answer to a question the phone company can't seem to answer for me.
I have this ISDN line and I live about 25 miles outside the city of New Orleans. I would like to be able to dial into New Orleans without it being long distance for me. With my regular analog (voice POTS) line I have an optional feature, Area Plus dialing plan, where I can dial into New Orleans as a local call. However, for the ISDN line the phone company said I cannot have this option, that it's against their tariffs, that all ISDN calls into the city are long distance from my location, no optional wide area calling plans are available.
I've gotten contradicting answer from BellSouth people this past year, but presently I cannot dial New Orleans as a local call. Anyone know if it's really against their tariffs for these optional calling plans to be applied to an ISDN line? This is a residential line, not a business line.
If I could dial into the city on my ISDN line, as a local call, it would give me LOTS more ISP's to choose from, maybe result in me getting better internet connectivity, etc. So, as you can imagine, I am REALLY interested in this.
