From the Q conf call it doesn't sound like Nok and Q are buds. Irwin said something like "I hope it turns out friendly........" He also pretty much said that "if nok doesn't get a license form Q, Q will see them it court."

Also, he stated that 1x and 1Xev full on launch in the second half of 2001 should make non cdma operators think twice about WCDMA which, by the way he doesn't see happening until 2003 or 2004 on any significant scale.

Nok will have no 1x chips..........

And lastly, I don't care what Ruffian says, as for me, I hope Q slams Nokia. I don't think Q needs them if data becomes popular. The asian phone makers will likely eat nokia's lunch on any sort of cdma system.

If nok fucks up wcdma infra as bad as they have screwed up on their cdma chip strategy, they are heading for trouble if the world cares about data speeds. And if you all are happy about nok having cdma phones, you should check the specs, the performance and battery life suck. Definitely low end phones.

We'll know in 18 months to two years if nok is another mot. Nah, nobody could screw up as bad as rotomola.
