Re: DGN

I didn't hear the entire call but others have posted relevant summaries. The purpose of the DGN acquisition was to allow EMC to expand its presence in the midrange market to better compete with upstarts like NTAP. This is an excellent strategy and will allow EMC to 'intercept' smaller companies and grow with them as they become larger companies.

It's important to appreciate that data is enormously critical to companies in the information age and that changing data storage vendors is a very disruptive process which most companies are loath to contemplate. It is far easier for EMC to help a company start small and grow with them than to convert them to EMC from another vendor.

As expected, the most recent pullback was completely routine. EMC remains a core holding whose daily fluctuations should be ignored.
