Pancho...

I noticed today that IBM has an 8 page adv. about E-commerce in the WSJ. I also foung a similar 8 page adv. in the Boston Globe. My guess is that if they put an adv. in the Boston Globe, then IBM put similar 8 page adv. in a large number of papers. That must be a few million $ in Adv. today by IBM. I know they can afford it but it still is BIG bucks.

I also recently read somewhere that IBM is setting up an E-Commerce Research Institute to the tune of $10M.

It is clear that IBM is spending BIG $ on e-commerce, I guess betting on the future. I am not sure what IBM's E-commerce strategy is and would appreciate input from anyone. I am more interested in the implications on others if IBM gets into this in a big way but that requires knowledge of what IBM's goals are.

Thus.
1. Anyone know what IBM's goals are.
2. What companies will be most impacted and make for attractive shorts?

Thanks

bob T.
