PointCast Expands Newspaper Content The Wall Street Journal Interactive Edition, the Boston Globe, and The New York Times (NYT) have agreed to extend and expand the content they supply for PointCast, a news aggregation service. "Each of these affiliates has a large and loyal PointCast audience and a compelling advertising model that complements their Web site's advertising offerings," said Don Albert, PointCast's vice president for affiliate development. Recent internal research shows that PointCast's newspaper affiliates and advertisers reach viewers they would not otherwise. For example, less than 10 percent of PointCast's Wall Street Journal Interactive Edition viewership subscribes to the Journal's Web site. "We've increased our commitment to PointCast, because it allows us to create a wider reach, complementing our subscription site on the Web," said Tom Baker, business director of the Wall Street Journal Interactive Edition. Among the additions planned for the PointCast Journal channel next month are daily feeds from Barron's Online and Smart Money Interactive.
