John, the key to internet banks success are the rates they can offer.

A pure internet bank can offeer much more attractive rates because they have no overhead due to branch offices. It they have traditional branch offices, I doubt they will offer the higher rates that the two main internet banks offer.

In such a case, they will be likened to traditional banks offering an online service.
