It appears that Outlaw Tim Josey Luke Wales suspension was not a wise decision. If this is the case, SI must make a choice: Allow the error to stand; or make a correction.
Continuing his suspension will not cause any immediate discomfort for the person who was responsible for implementing it. It will, however, contribute to the steady erosion of SI quality. Currently, SI is experiencing a number of challenges: Market declines translate to lower participation; fewer visitors result in lower revenue; scarce funds lead to losing key employees; and vacancies in key positions account for quality slipping. Everyone, participants, management, employees, and competitors know this trend must reverse for SI's survival. But without change, the current trend will continue.
One easy to reverse decision, a choice with absolutely no cost whatsoever, would be to reinstate Outlaw Tim Josey Luke Wales immediately. This would send a clear message that SI takes their own TOU policy seriously, SI responds to member's concerns, and that SI places a higher value on treating members fairly than it places on the short term convenience of sticking with a poor choice made hastily. Although this wouldn't solve many of the more serious issues SI management currently faces, it would be a small step in the right direction. I would urge management to take a serious look at the whole issue, take the necessary steps to correct unwise choices, publish explanations, apologies where appropriate, and implement measures insuring similar messes are not repeated.
This suspension is a small thing in the greater picture. If anyone doesn't think a bit of erosion matters, I's suggest they visit the Grand Canyon.
Cheers, PW. |
