Something funky here with MSN new high/low lists: they seem to cut off the list size to 50 new highs and 50 new lows (for all exchanges combined) even though they don't let us know they are doing so, a glaring omission in my view.

I will assume for the time being that these are the 50 with the highest market cap. It's too bad because market watchers often like to compare the number of new highs to the number of new lows. Never mind, Yahoo easily remedies this -- finance.yahoo.com, even if the number is not clickable to reveal the list (hello Yahoo, are you listening???)

The WSJ list online.wsj.com OTOH contains both the number and the names on the list, except the names have funky abbreviations and no stock symbols.

So you can see that each of these lists has its drawbacks, and it is often necessary to cross-reference one list with another, depending on your purpose.
