Actually I have also posted recently about how dire the situation for GDP is. Growth in GDP is not expected until Q3 09

We will see the stock market bottom only when our economy is on better footing and has stabilized. We can then have economic expansion and corporations returning to profitability.

Stock market risk remains on the downside as all four pieces of the GDP that drive our growth appears dismal.

1. Consumer confidence in countries around the world is at historic lows. The global market is in a worldwide margin call and liquidity freeze.

2. Unemployment is rising and incomes are falling.

3. The worst Christmas season for the last five decades is upon us.

4. Business invest remains stagnant.

So yes, there is a real chance that this economy will continue to get worse before its gets better, so likewise the stock market will continue to fall thru levels of support as it seeks the ultimate bottom.
