JAVA and RTOS

JAVA is a language that is interpreted at runtime. It is not an RTOS. Java still needs an underlying RTOS if used in an embedded processor environment.

The quickest way to port Java to the largest number of embedded systems is to port it to a vendors RTOS. It should then work across all platforms with MINIMAL re-compilation and debug.

Guess who has a big share of the market covered :-)

JAVA is being ported to both the WIND and INTS products and a lot of techies are real hot on how usefull JAVA is in an embedded situation. In general the Techies are not talking GUI java, rather distributed apps stuff,

Embedded processors are still the only way we will see Net Computers in the $250-$300 dollar range and I believe this will be a big market early next decade.
