So there are large chunks of people everywhere who hold all sorts of views. As long as they dont practice everything, I really dont care two hoots. Judge them by their deeds, not by their words.
And there are plenty of words as well as deeds to judge them by. Who do you think has vitiated the atmosphere in India to the extent that religious minorities live in fear for their lives everyday? The finger of suspicion (and in some cases, the preponderance of evidence) points to the Hindutva elements in the RSS, VHP etc., some of whom are in the BJP. There is little doubt about that. It is this virulent section that needs to be marginalized and reduced to the extremist status that they were in after the assassination of Gandhi in 1948.
Infact, you are judging the Nehru dynasty by its words ("we are for the welfare of minorities", "garibi hatao", "we are secular", blah-blah-blah)
I always judge these fellows by what they do, not by what they say. However, I feel that the blame for all the things that have gotten screwed up during the last 50 years should be placed on the Indian people as well, or at least the elite sections among them. Heaping all the blame on the Nehru dynasty is merely an exercise in self-preservation for those sections, and for some others it is an exercise in self-deception and self-delusion. |
