Intel's Grove to Replace Moore as Chairman
(13:48 01/13/97) SANTA CLARA, Calif. (Reuter) - Intel Corp. said
Monday its president, Andrew Grove, will become chairman of the
board, while Chairman Gordon Moore will become Chairman Emeritus
as of May 21 under a realignment of Intel's Executive Office.
Intel, the world's largest computer chip maker, also said Craig Barrett,
chief operating officer and executive vice president, will become
president under the restructuring. The company said Moore, Grove and
Barrett will continue to make up Intel's Executive Office.
``This series of moves is part of the ongoing management transition
process at Intel,'' Moore said. ``We named Craig an executive vice
president in 1990, and chief operating officer three years later. He has
been the operational head of the company during a period of
extraordinary growth, and he has done an outstanding job.''
