And a recent poll is showing a huge drop in the percentage of Russians who favor an invasion of the Ukraine.

This is where it gets dangerous. Putin could decide that his position is deteriorating and he has nothing to lose by invading. He would probably be right with respect to Russian public opinion. But does he see that he would be wrong in just about every other category?

I am not sure that is the case.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. The corner in which Putin has backed himself doesn't have a lot of wiggle room.

In addition, Russians have broken into Medvedev's twitter account and had him offering his resignation to Putin. Then there is Putin's humanitarian convoy slowly moving closer and closer to the Ukraine border while the Ukraine's Defense Minister predicts Donetsk will fall by next week. The more Putin looks foolish the more dangerous he gets.
