Thanks for introducing me to S8. They are comparing (and contrasting) themselves to NAS, SAN and SSPs, but I failed to see the last distinction. From the material they presented they sound exactly like an SSP, albeit with possibly a new wrinkle with their 8FS file system. I wouldn't be surprised either to see SANs and NASs at their 4 StorageCenters if you peaked under the hood.

I'm certainly not arguing against their success. If they can convince companies their data will really be secure, S8 will be appealing for those who don't want to build their own storage system with disaster recovery. The issue that jumped out at me is S8 will manage the data and you don't have to hire all of those expensive Fibre Channel gurus.
