Mary, re:Nowadays, almost any two people (with or without a dog) can get into the services
business and compete with the major players. In many cases the bigger players do not
have any advantage. In fact they are frequently disadvantaged by a high cost structure.

If we're talking critical apps., no down-time, etc. then I would think services is extremely important. Most IT managers would go with an "IBM" to support their critical hardware/software/networking needs, especially if its based on IBM products, rather than outsource to a 3rd-party vendor.
