Oscars immediately disgust

Wow! It took only 30 seconds for the Oscars to take their first jab at conservatives - you know, those conservatives who are only a couple hundred million of these Hollywood liberals’ fellow citizens, and are fool enough to buy movie tickets and support the film industry that despises them…
Thirty seconds is how long it took for the Oscars’ gauzy opening montage to include Michael Moore as one of its Hollywood heroes (right up there with the Little Colonel from “Birth of a Nation” and Dustin Hoffman in “Midnight Cowboy") …while conspicuously leaving out Mel Gibson.
For those who claim that the Oscars are an equal opportunity offender, just because both Mel Gibson and Michael Moore were not nominated this year - I’ll point out that Moore’s inclusion as a hero in the opening montage was continued by Chris Rock’s opening monologue, which praised Moore, called “Fahrenheit 9/11? a “beautiful film,” bashed Bush with a ludicrous series of lies and misstatements, and issued a back-handed slap to “The Passion” by commenting on how the film mostly just offended Jews…and was sort of the cinematic equivalent of “Soul Plane.”
If that weren’t enough, Rock wrapped up his monologue with a snide commendation to “the troops” - a sort of a c.y.a. after he had just finished deriding what they do… While Rock’s anti-Bush pro-Michael Moore comments were met with thunderous applause in the auditorium, his “support the troops” epilogue only got glassy-eyed stares and a tepid round of claps …
I’m predicting this year’s Oscars will have the lowest ratings ever. And what’s with awarding Oscars to people in the aisles? I suppose this is part of their on-going effort to “loosen up” the Oscars, but it’s just plain awkward - and rude to the winners. The Academy is only doing this to the awards in the various crafts categories (while actors and actresses still get their moment on stage), which is just another example of how liberal Hollywood is more snobbish and elitist than the conservative Hollywood it’s replaced. It used to be EVERYONE got their moment on stage when they won an Oscar. Now, when you win an Oscar, say, for Best Makeup, you have to be content with speaking from an aisle somewhere in the midst of the Kodak Theatre, while the stage lies empty and half the audience is craning its neck to see who the heck you are. After all, if you’re one of the poor, hardworking artists or craftspeople who toils in anonymity to make a movie happen behind the scenes - you’re not NEARLY as important to the film industry as Drew Barrymore… Did liberal Hollywood have to make its hypocritical caste system quite so obvious?
It’s just amazing that these people still don’t get it. They really seem to think that becoming more liberal and going out of their way to insult conservatives is the way to attract viewers and boost Hollywood’s rock-bottom image. |
