Thread: Is Ramtron (EMS subsidairy) well positioned in the low latentcy memory world?
I was just looking at their stock price $2 (RMTR) which is 1X sales and wondering...........

Enhanced Memory Systems Pushes Intel Pentium III and AMD Athlon Workstation & Server Memory to 1.5 GB
PC133 HSDRAM DIMM Modules Offer Low Latency and High Clock Rate at 256MB & 512MB Densities
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 3, 1999-- Enhanced Memory Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ramtron International Corporation (Nasdaq:RMTR - news), today announces a family of 256MB and 512MB unbuffered PC133 High-Speed SDRAM (HSDRAM) DIMM modules. These modules support high-end Intel© Pentium© III and AMD Athlon(TM) workstation and server systems using the new Via Technologies' Pro 133, Pro133A, and KX133 chipsets. The modules provide the large memory capacity (up to 1.5 GB) needed by industrial strength desktop publishing, video production, and Web server applications. This capacity exceeds the 1 GB maximum capacity of the recently announced Intel 840 chipset using Direct RDRAM main memory.

PC133 HSDRAM is the lowest latency, highest clock rate, high-density SDRAM DIMM available. HSDRAM operates at 3:2:2 latency at clock rates greater than 133 MHz.

``Our HSDRAM DIMMs are the fastest modules currently available,' said David Bondurant, vice president of marketing at Enhanced Memory Systems. ``The new 256MB and 512MB DIMMs are great for serious desktop publishing and video production workstations, or low-end Web servers based on the new Via Pro 133, Pro133A or KX133 chipsets.'

Pricing and Availability -- The HSDRAM products are now available through the EMS e-commerce Website at www.pc133memory.com. The 256MB DIMM (x64) is currently priced at $995. The 512MB DIMM (x64) is currently priced at $1990.

High-Performance DRAM Products

A leading specialty DRAM company, Enhanced Memory Systems began shipping its first low-latency EDRAM products in 1992. In November 1996, Enhanced Memory Systems announced its new 133MHz enhanced synchronous DRAM (ESDRAM). This ESDRAM became an official JEDEC SDRAM Superset standard and was first sampled in 1998. ESDRAM is now in volume production. The PC133 HSDRAM products continue the Enhanced Memory Systems tradition of supplying the highest performance plug-compatible memory upgrade products.

Enhanced Memory Systems is a fabless DRAM company with manufacturing agreements with top semiconductor companies including Infineon Technologies (formerly Siemens Semiconductors) and IBM Microelectronics, and is pursuing other strategic partnerships to advance its high-performance memory technology in the marketplace.

Enhanced Memory Systems products serve the DRAM, specialty DRAM and fast SRAM markets, which are expected to grow to more than $56 billion by the year 2001, according to In-Stat, a leading semiconductor research firm.
