Acronis "disk clone" (it one of the utility tools already available on your package) is the fastest method of copying data I know of.

You could first slice your disk up in two or up to four primary partitions if its convenient to store your data that way. The only limitiation I consider is I never want a partition that is more then about 60% full, because I can still easily defragement it that way, and I like to keep a seperate partition for different types of files. For example I keep my operating system files on a different partition.

You can create partitions straight from windows disk management or use free partition software. Its a similar process for all versions of M/S windows.
