Ultra-Orthodox Jew shot dead in Antwerp

24-year-old Moshe Naeh, who serves as the rabbi's aid (“Gabai”) at one of the city’s synagogues, was walking home when unknown assailant shot him.
According to members of the local Jewish community, the incident had all the marks of an anti-Semitic attack, since the victim “had on clothes of an ultra-Orthodox Jew”.
Police are investigating whether the shooter came from the nearby Moslem neighborhood. However, Belgian officials have yet to describe the attack as anti-Semitic in nature.
Meanwhile, it has been revealed that in the past several days, threats have been made on the life a Belgian senator of Moroccan descent, who criticized the rising popularity of radical Islam among Arab immigrants in the country.
Fearing a possible attack, the senior politician, Mimonet Buskala, decided Wednesday to go underground.
Belgian authorities are treating this matter in the uttermost severity, following the murder of Dutch filmmaker Theo Van-Gogh, who was critical of Islam’s attitude towards women. His murder sparked violent clashes in the usually calm nation of The Netherlands.
